UPDATED: Brett Festerling & Danny Syvret on Waivers

After clearing waivers both players have been assigned to Syracuse of the AHL.

Our Anaheim Ducks have announced Festerling and Syvret have been placed on waivers. It’s a  little surprising given each player is on a two way contract. Since Barstool Bob doesn’t have me on speed dial yet I’m assuming the timing is to give both players a chance to catch on with another team…

NHL teams have until 12:00p.m. EDT to claim either player. It’s unlikely either will be claimed. No team has put in a claim on a waived player this pre-season.

Randy Carlyle has been specific about Brett Festerling’s status. The coach has been reported as saying, ‘This is his time. He has to do it now.”

It’s likely either Syracuse or outright release now.

It’s rare that a player with Festerling’s experience can bounce back up the depth chart under the same regime.

Jeez, just added Danny Syvret to my Twitter Follow list and nicknamed him ‘Waterbug.’

I kind of expected that. It would be nice if they get a chance somewhere….

Syvret might end up doing well with the youngsters in SYR, the Crunch could be a great building block location going forward..Festerling never seemed to materialize…maybe he is in RC’s “Ryan Carter land”
