Catching up with Scott Niedermayer

ESPN’s Scott Lebrun got the real skinny.

“Bob Murray asked me if I could do things here and there,” Niedermayer said. “So I will be doing some work for the team, but you probably wouldn’t call it a full-time position.”

The former captain’s next assignment is a trip to Syracuse for some work with the Crunch D-men.

Lebrun’s article appears at espn’s Cross Checks Blog. Must be related. Probably among the family’s black sheep if he’s named for a penalty. Even if it is just a misdemeanor or minor 😉

Would he be a good choie for a defensive coach? Or would it make RC uncomfortable?

Rule of thumb is great players don’t make for good coaches. Mainly because they’re great they haven’t had as much coaching as other players.

He’s probably being groomed for management.
