Duck Eggs

The weekend in Morro Bay was awesome. Family gathered for a wedding on  the beach. Sixteen people shared one shower and surprisingly there was enough hot water for everyone. Retired Hockey Mom wore the ‘C’ in the kitchen.

Luckily for me I missed both Ducks disasters. Maybe we nick ’em the “Ah Shucks Ducks” this season?

Injuries mounted through the weekend as Andy Sutton went down with a what is reported to be a fractured right thumb.

To replace Sutton our Ducks have signed former Red Wing 3rd pairing guy Andreas Lilja. He’s solid if what you need is a depth D-man. Andreas could spell trouble if asked to do more. He’s listed in scouting reports as good on the PK unit but I’m skeptical.  As we saw in the season opener, Anaheim is a long way from Detroit.

Can’t help but wonder if Bob Murray would have gone to the cupboard after one of Newton, Mitera or Clark had some AHL experience. Brett Festerling was called up but the Lilja signing makes him an obvious short-timer who will likely be traded.

I’m going to miss watching “Uncle Fester” paste Rick Nash. Brett does have Nash’ number.

Corey Perry’s stock dropped after losing a fight Pavel Datsyuk. Perry’s agitator rep brought out the Duck haters. When he’s your guy, he’s an agitator. When he’s on the opposition squad he’s a cheap shot artist.

Was that Steve Carrol sidekick Dan Woods telling Bargain Shopper Bob to trade Perry for Tomas Kaberle?Scroll down to the comments. Wow, Perry for Kabs straight up, huh? Take off, eh.

I strongly believe that our young forwards spent the whole summer partying, and they cannot understand the professionalism behind the bucks they now have.

    You’re not alone there.
