Jeff Miller should stick to puff pieces

The premise put forward by Jeff Miller in, Players, not Carlyle, have to make fixes is an admission that the Coach is irrelevant. In fact if you read the article it seems as though RC was merely along for the ride when our Ducks turned it around last season.
As one who is probably among Coach Carlyle’s most severe critics in our Ducks blogosphere, I wouldn’t show RC that kind of disrespect, even unintentionally.

RC’s job is to make a plan. It’s the players job to make the plan work. There are no passengers. Everybody, including the coach, is responsible for what happens on the ice. To suggest a Coach is somehow not responsible because the players are responsible isn’t insight. It’s spin.

I wouldn’t be critical if that same piece appeared at AnaheimDucks.com. You expect fluff and puff from the house organ players. A higher standard of objectivity and quality of argument is expected from an independent journalist.

bc, Jeff Miller, the author of the article ???

I have noticed that our sport reporters play little politics, since criticizing the coach would limit their access to the management and inside info. I am sure that even Jeff Miller can see some problems with RC. We have mentioned quite a few here. And most people who understand hockey are on the same page, Carlyle is part of the problem. I am not saying he is the only culprit.
Among other problems, he likes “yes people”, he often fails to recognize the true talent, he doesn’t develop the players according to their abilities, but wants them to play his system. He is not an analytical person…..
I apologize boring you with this stuff, and repeating myself. I could continue for a long time.
By the way, Lupul scored again and he is +7 with 26 points.
Tonight, Carlyle will go against Tippett, I am already shivering.

In the immortal words of Rick Perry, “Oopps.” Thanks cz it’s fixed. Jeez, if I’m going to slam a guy I should at least get his name right.

The article is amusing in a credit Coach Carlyle for winning, blame players for losing kind of way.

Discouraging read…I wonder how Bowman would interrupt this article! Pointing fingers is not the answer, finding a solution is. We need the media to encourage change not reject it. The standings speak for themselves. Duck fans hold on its going to be a crash and burn ride to April.

SOS from Anaheim, while we still can!

Miller is saying venting our passion about Coach is pointless. Would he prefer we ignore Coach, Jeff Miller’s blog posts and our Ducks? Not! How be we begin cheering every time our Ducks get a bench minor? Standing O’s when Coach sends out the 4th line to take an offensive zone face off after a media time out. Putting bags on our heads at the opening face off?
yougetwhatyouputin like most fans is holding the entire org responsible and Miler wants us to shuddup and give Randy Carlyle a pass.

Am I missing something or has our objective changed? I felt our purpose was to field a competitive team that competes for the Cup year after year? When did our philosophy change? Why has it become so difficult to make a change when the current structure is failing? As in any company/organization changes need to be made for the betterment of profits or in our case wins.

I just purchased four tickets to this Sunday’s Leafs game (first game of the season for me) for $45 (ducks ticket exchange)…less than the season ticket price…sad. I will be wearing my Leafs hat and my Teemu jersey. Will be nice to see Lupul, Toronto is long overdue for a successful season…

Saying the coach is not responsible for some part of the failures of our team is like saying a teacher is not responsible when their students fail… That defies logic – but then if kissing up is your goal – logic plays no part in your analysis.

I’ve been willing to give RC the benefit of the doubt for a long time. My patience has run out. He’s not earning his contract extension.

I find it particularly annoying to watch RC’s two tiered leadership style. If your name is Getzlaf you can make mental mistakes at will with no fear of consequences. Make a mental mistake, blow your defensive coverage, make another bad pass or turnover that leads to an opponent’s goal – no problem – you’ll never miss a shift (even if you can’t win a face-off). If you are bottom six guy, make a mistake and you don’t see the ice again. RC will never pull a Bruce Boudreau and sit Getz or Perry for a shift, let alone make them a healthy scratch like Boudreau did with Semin.

Take a look north at the SF 49ers. Same roster as last year, new coach is the only new variable. After going 6-10 last year they are 9-1 and still counting Ws. Closer to home, you can’t tell me that Phoenix and Dallas have better rosters then the Ducks. The difference is behind the bench, plain and simple.

    hey all,

A tour of the Ducks blogs indicate that the fan disappointment is universal and virtually unanimously targeted at the leadership of Bob Murray, Randy Carlyle and Ryan Getzlaf. With the exception of a few odd ducks like Miller handing out passes. Jeff missed his calling. He should have been hall monitor.
