Stanley Cup Final: Game 5 Wrap

Chicago defeated Boston 3-1 in a game close and typical of the series thus far. Both teams were equally sloppy with the biscuit. Boston couldn’t keep themselves from coughing it up and Chicago couldn’t finish many of its scoring opportunities. Not only couldn’t Chicago finish, they couldn’t hit the friggin’ net to save their own skins.

Patrice Bergeron couldn’t play in the third period. He was taken to a Chicago hospital in an ambulance. Injury news is hard to come by in the playoffs. My guess is that he injured his back, spleen or perhaps a kidney. He will of course play in Game 6 if it is at all possible.

Jonathon Toews watched the third period from the bench. Reports vary but most common is a suspected concussion. The Safety Committee will review a hit by Johnny Boychuk on the Chicago captain. Adam McQuaid nailed Toews in the head as well. It could have been the Boychuk hit, the McQuaid hit or a combination.

Boychuk was hobbled when he took a Chicago shot off his foot. Brent Seabrooke also limped to the bench after a shift.

Many in the media are already declaring Game 6 a mere formality. Jeez, that’s soooo stupid. Injured or not, there are some very good hockey players who are going to determine the outcome of this series.

Maybe at a time when a rumor site is the most popular hockey website on the internet. When fans seem more interested in forecasting rather than just enjoying the game and series at their own pace, well…enjoy. It’s a great and very entertaining series.

I can’t wait until bc posts his thought on game 6. Hey bc – you called the winner – I called the number of games. As you say – post dicting is so much easier. 🙂

I’m happy that The Big Bang Theory had a rerun that I’d seen recently. I almost switched channels @ about 3 minutes left in the 3rd. It didn’t seem possible for the Hawks to win this game.

An amazing end to a game that was so dominated by the Bruins. TSN has already posted that they were devistated – I understand why & I think the Hawks were shocked.
